New Placer County 4-H Community Education Specialist

Shannon Kane edited
Shannon Kane started as the new 4-H Community Education Specialist on Monday, April 3rd. Here is a short bio written by Shannon:

"I grew up in Ukiah, California as the oldest of five kids. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we are proud parents of three great kids; two still at home and one serving in the US Air Force.   We also have a few dozen, fuzzy babies in the form of goats, chickens, dogs, cats and a llama.

While I truly feel I missed out not being a 4-H kid, I came into 4-H that first year “just” as a parent (famous last words)!  Hearing there was a need for a local club I collaborated with others and started Orangevale 4-H Club, staying on as the Community Club Leader for 2-years and then moving into the Registrar role. I have also had the privilege of leading several projects; from Leadership to small animal to large animals.  The last two years I have spent volunteering for Sacramento County 4-H office as well as working at their summer camp, serving on the Community Club Leader Committee, Camp Committee and chaperoning for events such as CAL Conference. I believe that the 4-H program is THE best youth development program, bringing adults and youth together to collaborate and learn from one another.  I am looking forward to helping support our volunteers, youth members and families in the years to come and I know I will learn a lot from each of you."

Be sure to say hi to Shannon if you stop by the office. You can also reach her at the 4-H number - 530-889-7386.
